A great biscuit project to share with the kids. Once cool, you can have fun decorating these chocolate biscuits as you wish - ice them, add hundreds and thousands, dust with icing sugar or simply dip them in melted white chocolate.

- 185g plain flour
- 90g cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 185g softened butter
- 250g caster sugar
- 1 egg

- In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- Blend the sugar and butter in a food processor until smooth and add an egg. Blend until combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry to form a soft pliable dough. (You may not need to add all of the sugar/butter mixture here.)
- Flatten the dough into a thick disc and wrap in cling film. Refrigerate for 2 hours (this makes the dough easier to work with).
- Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
- With a heavy rolling pin, roll the dough out on a floured surface and cut into shapes with biscuit cutters. If the dough is sticking, add more flour to the work surface to prevent this.
- Place shapes onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool and add icing and decorations, or simply dust with icing sugar.

Made these, and they were fab, only prob was when in the oven, they all merged into one huge biscuit. (And i did leave plenty of room between the biscuits!)But were so nice!-10 Mar 2011
Made this with my 3 year old son and found it easy and delicious. I would just caution on decorating them as I find them very rich and delicious all on their own and really don't need anything more. All in all great!-27 Nov 2012
