tablespoons shredded unsweetened coconut, toasted
tablespoons chocolate syrup
tablespoons (1 oz.) crème de cacao liqueur
tablespoons (1 oz.) Irish cream (or chocolate cream liqueur, like Godiva™)
tablespoons (1 oz.) coconut liqueur (like Bardinet™)
Rim a martini or stemmed cocktail glass with honey and toasted coconut. Drizzle 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup into the bottom of the glass.
In a cocktail shaker, combine remaining chocolate syrup, crème de cacao liqueur, Irish cream and coconut liqueur with 2/3 cup ice. Shake for 30-60 seconds, then pour into prepared cocktail glass. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Thumbprint cookies have been around forEVER it seems like, but somehow I&rsquod NEVER made them!
I usually avoid most sugar and shortbread cookie recipes because sometimes they can be hard to get right. The texture is off or they require too much chilling and rolling and fuss, and for the last few years Christmas has been overwhelming enough (I need a SPREADSHEET that gets a lot of attention just to make sure I don&rsquot like &ndash forget to buy presents for a kid at this point) and fussy cookie recipes just haven&rsquot been my jam.

Freaky Friday Recipe Swap
It is time for Freaky Friday again, folks! That&rsquos a 4-5 times a year event that I participate in with a group of bloggers. It is hosted by one of my all-time-faves, Michaela of An Affair from the Heart.
She makes things like her Grandma&rsquos Hamburger Soup, that I kind of want to just dive into and live there now it looks so warm and comforting, her Aunt Carol&rsquos Poppyseed Rolls (totally making these the next time I make rolls), these DARLING Chocolate Sugar Kiss Cookies which will definitely be finding a spot in my 2020 Christmas Cookie Extravaganza (Follow along on Instagram for more on that), and these genius Air Fryer Taco Salad Bowls, coming to a taco salad near me, REAL soon.
Each Freaky Friday cycle entails getting assigned another blogger, in secret, and then choosing a recipe from their site according to a set theme, and then making it, photographing it, and posting about it.
Last year for the cookie exchange I made these awesome cookies from Take Two Tapas. I&rsquove also made French Onion Risotto, Air Fryer Shrimp, and Parmesan Halibut.
In this round, I got assigned none other than Amy from House of Nash Eats.
Not only is her site one of the most beautiful sites I&rsquove ever laid my eyes on (and I look at a LOT of websites on any given day), but her recipes are inventive, creative, and so beautifully photographed that I want to kick her a little and just sent every foodie I know her way because if a site like that doesn&rsquot deserve ALL of the good things and traffic and fans, I don&rsquot know what does.
I will definitely be making a version of these candied walnuts on our pellet grill, stat.

Where did the term “turtle” come from?
Turtle style candies were my inspiration for these cookies. A box of chocolate “turtles” is one of those boxed chocolates that most everyone likes. Which is great because then you don’t get those chocolates with a bite taken out then put back in the box when it contained something somebody didn’t like or wasn’t looking for.
It was in 1916, in the windy city of Chicago, that George DeMet of DeMet’s Candy Company brought the Turtle to life. The original style of the candy contained caramel, pecans, and chocolate, and the bumpy look from the pecans covered in chocolate looked like a turtle shell.
With turtle candies, the nuts are held together with caramel, then dipped into chocolate to cover. Of course, with a turtle cookie, you are using the cookie dough to do the supporting work and binding it all. That means more room to get generous with the caramel, pecans, and chocolate chunks.

Lemonade Sugar Cookie Recipe

This Lemonade Sugar Cookie Recipe has been a favorite summer dessert in our family for years! With a tart lemon taste, but a soft sugar cookie base, it&rsquos a great twist on a classic cookie!
I first found this recipe in a Family Fun magazine many, many years ago, and I&rsquove been making them ever since. I&rsquove taken them to so many picnics and parties, and always get asked for the recipe.
You start with a tart lemon sugar cookie which would be good by itself. But then&hellip THEN&hellip you roll it in lemonade mix and that&rsquos where the magic happens.
The sugar crystals in the lemonade mix get all gooey and almost caramelized when the cookie bakes. I don&rsquot know the right way to describe this, but it gets better. So much better than if you were making just a classic lemon sugar cookie.
This also leads to the age old question&hellip should you grease your cookie sheet or not? For most recipes, you do not need to grease your cookie sheets because there is enough butter in the recipe that they slide right off.
For this recipe, the lemonade mix acts as a barrier between the cookie and the pan and you definitely need to grease that cookie sheet! Otherwise, those sugar crystals want to stick to the cookie sheet like you won&rsquot believe. So grease it. Grease it well.
Bake just until the edges begin to start turning slightly brown. I always under-bake my cookies by about a minute or so and let them finish cooking on the pan for a couple minutes after I take them out of the oven. I love a soft cookie, and these are perfect for me after about 10 minutes.
I used Country Time Lemonade Mix this time, because it&rsquos what I happened to have on-hand. You can use whatever brand you wish. There are even times I&rsquove craved these and mixed some white granulated sugar with lemon zest and just rolled them in that. It&rsquos not quite as tart, but it gets the job done when the craving hits!

For as long as I can remember, my family’s Christmas season officially started with cookies. Before we were even tall enough to reach the countertop, my mom would pull over kitchen chairs so my sister and I could “help” out and get our hands in the flour. She would get out the baking sheets, the ingredients, and the flour-dusted recipes that were reserved only for the holiday season. We’d bake batch after batch after batch, eating more cookie dough than actual cookies.
This year, to kick off our holiday season, I created a little cookie & cocktail party taking inspiration from my family cookie memories. And we’ve partnered with Crate and Barrel to share a few cocktail and cookie recipe ideas and tips to create a sweet gathering of your own.

After a quick google search, I’ve learned that some people have some pretty serious Cookie Swap rules. I personally don’t think rules and parties go together so here are just some of my tips to help get you started:
– Invite some friends who have a big sweet tooth. There’s no calorie counting at this party! The more people you invite, the more cookie varieties you’ll have.
– Ask each person to bring one batch (about 2 dozen) homemade cookies and a tin or storage container to take cookies home in.
– Make a fun & festive cocktail but I like to keep it simple. I made a Blood Orange and Bourbon Cocktail with a sprig of rosemary.
– Set up platters for guests to place their cookies so everyone can share cookies and swap recipes.
My mom and I spent an afternoon baking some of our family favorites: this Spritz cookie is my family’s signature cookie. It’s a light buttery cookie flavored with sweet almond extract. Create fun shapes using a Cookie Press – the poinsettia flower shape was always our favorite. We also made vegan sugar cookies, pistachio truffles (which are also vegan), and pecan turtle bars.
And don’t forget some cookies for the dogs – ours are always looking for handouts!

In a sauce pan, melt caramels with milk over low heat, stirring occasionally. Takes about 10 – 12 minutes.
In the meantime, mix cake according to directions, adding vanilla. Pour 1/2 of cake mixture in a greased and floured 13 x 9 pan (I use Baker’s Joy). Bake about 10 – 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
When cake has baked for the 10 or more minutes and the sauce is ready, pour sauce over the cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Pour remaining batter over sauce. Bake about 20 – 30 minutes more, until done.
1 stick butter
3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa
1 box confectioners sugar
1/3 cup milk
Dash of salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Bring butter, milk, cocoa and salt to a boil over medium heat. Add sifted confectioners sugar (I never sift mine). Pour over cake while both are hot. Sprinkle with nuts. (You can mix the nuts in when you add the confectioners sugar if you’d like.)
